A large group of Lorne Gardeners Inc. members enjoyed a great day out. The day began with a visit to Turkeith Homestead – East Colac. Turkeith is a substantial bluestone home built in 1865 from local stone. The original garden was later transformed by William Guilfoyle and now maintained by Mary Ann and Tim Holt.
Lunch was enjoyed at the The Store in Deans March.
After lunch we travelled to Pennyroyal to see an extensive plantation including California redwoods and oak trees, called ‘Byron’s Treed Walk’
The third garden visit was to the farm of Anne and Ray Sutton. We wandered a large garden and saw where Ray produces his speciality cheeses.
